NO MONEY, NO ART

Contemporary art inside our contemporary society can only be defined as the act of buying something as art. Art is therefore what is bought as art. This definition is necessary to keep the distinction between common consumer goods and art. If we don't define art as the act of buying something as art then buying art becomes no different than buying a car, buying detergent, buying an iPhone or any other product of mass consumption. Art then becomes just yet another product.

The "No money, no art" artwork is designed in the way that what you are buying is your act of buying something as art. You are basically buying yourself buying something as art. You are paying for your act of paying. Which is exactly the definition of art therefore you are indeed buying art in its most significant and meaningful form. It is the ultimate manifestation of art in the age of consumerism.

The artwork consists of the title (No money, no art), the date you bought it and the time you bought it. Which means that the artwork is basically constructed, created by your act of buying it. It doesn't exist prior to your act of buying it. You don't just buy art as you'd buy any other product but you actually CREATE art with the act of buying it which is something only a work of art could offer you. The artwork only starts to exist when you buy it. It's the act of buying it that creates it.

No money, no art
Black ink and watercolors on a white A4 format sheet of paper
Price: As much as you want + all costs (1.99€)

Important! The artwork will be sent in a normal envelope which means it is quite likely that it won't reach you in perfect condition. I consider that part of the artistic process and further more it's not my intention to sell objects but to sell the act of buying something as art.
